Overview

Mattu University College of Health Science was established in 2013/14 Academic year with three departments (Public Health officer, Nursing and Midwifery and with about 10 academic staffs. Subsequent to the pre-identified theme areas, the College of Health Science has expanded its undergraduate, postgraduate, and post-basic programs, as well as its research and community service activities, indicating a consistent expansion in both academic and research affairs. The college is located in Oromia Regional State's Illubabor Zone, an ever-green area 600 kilometers from the country’s capital. The College encompass eight departments; namely, Nursing, Midwifery, Medical Laboratory Science, Health Informatics, Psychiatry, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science and Public Health. The college has 150 academic staffs, more than 1500 undergraduate students and 70 masters’ students. The college currently offers four postgraduate (MSc/MPH) programs in addition to nine undergraduate (regular and post basic) programs. The College's thematic area includes infectious and non-infectious diseases, healthy policy, nutrition, environment health, and health science education.

Dean's Message

Welcome to College of Health sciences!

Located in the outskirt of an ever-green area of Ilubabor Zone, College of Health Sciences is one of the youngest colleges established in Mattu University, Ethiopia. In contrast to our minimal years of services, we are one of the country’s fastest-growing health and medical colleges, providing a range of degrees across several disciplines. The College of Healthy Science at Mattu University is one of the most dynamic and multifaceted academic centers. It offers a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate programs that positively contribute to the advancement of healthcare delivery, both locally and globally. The College of Healthy Science has 4 MSc/MPH programs and 9 undergraduate programs. In addition, our college works to promote fundamental and advanced research on diseases that are communicable and non-communicable as well as other health issues.  Furthermore, we pledged to prepare our students to become knowledgeable and kind healthcare professionals who can positively impact both their communities and the career in which they choose.

In my capacity as dean of the College of Health Sciences, I would like to reassure you that we have professionals who are moral, gifted, diligent, and committed to fulfilling your academic needs. Thus, I hereby extend an invitation to all students, undergraduate and graduate, to give our college top consideration when selecting a health science school.
